Our success in Haiti fueled MHI’s expansion into India in 2020. Since the first teacher training in Mumbai was led by our Haitian staff in February 2020, followed by the resumption of the program in 2021 through virtual learning and then full in-person instruction in 2022, we have worked with our local partner, OSCAR Foundation, to engage 40 children at two locations in Mumbai, India.
Last year’s reporting showed that after 60 music classes, students showed progress and achievement that included improved cognitive skills, enhanced emotional and social skills, increased self-confidence and self-esteem, improved rhythm, cultural enrichment, creativity, and a positive attitude toward learning.
